How is Rosetta Stone for learning German?

How would you rate Rosetta stone for learning german. I am half and would like to learn how to speak it, but first i would like to know if Rosetta Stone is worth the money.

I like it okay. It’s kind of an indirect way at learning languages. So if you’re willing to put in a lot of time, you’ll learn the language faster, but you don’t learn much practical stuff right off the bat. So if you’re going to put in the time to get through it then yeah I’d say it’s worth the money. If you’re just looking to learn a few phrases then you’ll be disappointed.

    Ok im guessing by "I am half" im guessing you mean, you are half German, and live in America. Anyways i have tried Rosetta Stone from one of my friends who had "Rosetta Stone German" and it was terrible all it does is give you some pictures and sentences and match them together and crap like that… So over its terrible and not worth the $200-$500 it costs to get it. My recommendation is if you are still young take it in High-school if you are older i would look in your phone book and find one of those places that does private classes with you(More expensive) then take a month or two off after about 3 years and go and live in Germany and actually put yourself in the language. Rosetta Stone doesn’t work though because it doesn’t necciarly teach you the grammar and how everything is flown together properly and in some situations your suppose to do something else and its much more difficult then that program perceiveses it to be. But i would have to say that it will take you 4-5 years learning the language plus 1-3 months in Germany to become fluent in the language.
